Meet Jennifer

As a lifelong resident of the First Senate District in Suffolk County, Jennifer Maertz is dedicated to preserving our way of life in eastern Suffolk County. Jennifer knows firsthand the challenges we face on long island with prohibitive housing costs, unsustainable tax increases, and the rising cost of education. Jennifer put herself through college, law school, and graduate school, all while working full time.

Jennifer Maertz, a practicing insurance litigation attorney, graduated from St. John's University, Touro Law School and received an MBA with distinction from New York Institute of Technology. She is deeply involved in her community as a trustee for the Rocky Point Civic Association and as Treasurer for the North Shore Youth Council where she has been recognized by the Town of Brookhaven for her volunteer efforts with local youth.

Jennifer’s experience working with elementary school children as a paraprofessional in the 1990’s inspired her to volunteer her time to provide hope, mentoring, and opportunity for our local children. In 2009 Jennifer ran a youth leadership program helping teenagers develop public speaking and leadership skills. This skill building program helped our local youth develop confidence as well as other useful skills as they prepared to attend college and enter the workforce. Additionally Jennifer is dedicated to encouraging and helping Long Island women run for public office, pursue leadership positions, and grow their businesses as Co-Founder of East End Dem Women and board member of the East End Women’s Network.

As an advocate in her community, Jennifer Maertz has spoken publically on issues relating to equal pay, marriage equality, domestic violence, and the financial crisis.

Jennifer Maertz first ran for NY State Senate on the east end of Long Island in 2010. Jennifer maintains her commitment to providing eastern Suffolk with an aggressive advocate who will fight to preserve our quality of life as well as improve opportunities for all residents.
